CHICAGO (CBS) ― Perfect attendance and a little luck helped a Chicago Public School student win a new car Monday. CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports that the car was just one incentive CPS officials have been offering kids as a reward for coming to class everyday. A 2008 Dodge Caliber was the top reward for three straight months of perfect attendance at Chicago Public Schools. Nearly 190,000 students achieved that feat this year. In a random drawing, the group was pared down to 150 kids who gathered Monday at a Chicago car dealership and given a key to hand off to their parents, but only one would start the car.
