One would think that after the bruising battle over Carly Fiorina and the subsequent "spy scandal" over snooping on journalists, the one lesson Hewlett-Packard would take away was the necessity of absolute transparency in dealing with the media and analysts. Fat chance. In mid-June, HP announced the consolidation of U.S. call-center activities in Rio Rancho, N.M. and Conway, Ark. The disposition of employees at other locations would be announced later, HP said. On June 25, the Colorado Springs Gazette carried a front-page story that local HP employees were told they could move to New Mexico, or lose their jobs.
