Briefs-Daniilidou could be out of tennis for rest of season

June 24 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world on Tuesday: Tennis - Greek number one Eleni Daniilidou is likely to miss the remainder of the 2008 season following surgery to her right knee. The 25-year-old has already missed the French Open and Wimbledon after suffering the injury during a match in Miami at the start of April. "The treatment and physio are going well but I need a minimum of six months to recover so that rules me out of the Olympics as well," Daniilidou said. "It's very disappointing but what can we do?" Cricket - India will rest all rounder Irfan Pathan for their opening Asia Cup match against Hong Kong to allow him to recover from a side strain before the game against Pakistan on Thursday.
