Magnitude 5.4 earthquake jolts western China, no injuries reported

A moderate earthquake jolted northwestern China on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, state media said. The magnitude 5.4 quake struck the remote province of Qinghai at 1:23 p.m. (0523 GMT), the official Xinhua News Agency said. It was centered around a nature reserve in the southwestern part of the province where altitudes average 16,400 feet (5,000 meters), Xinhua said.
