Londoner Brian Davis shot a six-under-par 64 to grab a share of the lead after the first round of the Travelers Championship with compatriot Justin Rose just one stroke behind. Davis, starting on the back nine at the TPC River Highlands, began badly with a bogey five but bounced back with four birdies in five holes from the 12th to turn in 32. He then had three birdies and a bogey in his next four holes before picking up his eighth birdie of the day at the par-four seventh. That put him into a share of the lead with Americans Steve Lowery, Johnson Wagner and Brad Adamonis. Rose, in the meantime, heads a group of seven players at five under and was, by contrast, blemish free.
