Missing girl, suspect found in Calif. town

STAFF REPORT • June 6, 2008 The statewide Amber alert issued for an abducted 11-year-old Las Vegas girl was canceled after she and the suspect were found late Thursday in a California town in the Sierra foothills. The child is in the custody of California officials who will return her to her family in Las Vegas. The suspect, Jose Rangel-Martinez, was taken into custody in Porterville, Calif., according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The Nevada Highway Patrol cancled the alert just before 11 p.m. The alert was issued about 4 p.m. Wednesday and extended to Northern Nevada after police said he was on his way to Washington through Oregon or Idaho.
