Oct 27, 2009 (The Kansas City Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Earnings season continues its run in Kansas City this week, with headliners appearing daily. This morning's marquee features third-quarter results for Waddell & Reed Financial Inc., which is expected to show profits equal to 33 cents a share, according to analysts' estimates collected by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically are adjusted for discontinued operations, extraordinary items or other factors. They typically vary somewhat from net income as reported under generally accepted accounting principles. Also today, UMB Financial Corp. is likely to report earnings of 49 cents a share, Thomson's estimates show.
