TCS to Bid for Rs 5,000 Cr UID Project

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), along with its government-focused subsidiary CMC, plans to bid for projects worth approx Rs 5,000 crore to set up the country s unique citizen database. CMC's expertise on the biometric front works favourably for TCS, which won the Rs 1,000-crore e-passport project last year working with CMC. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will rely heavily on biometric and fingerprint information of the country s 1.2 billion citizens to create the database.
