A measure in ice time

In theory, the decision to join a contending Calgary Flames team with perhaps the deepest defense corps in the NHL was supposed to reduce Bouwmeester's minutes played. So much for the best-laid plans: Through last Thursday, Bouwmeester was averaging just a shade fewer than 27 minutes a game — and former Norris Trophy-winning defenseman Al MacInnis knows why that happens.
