Shars in regional bank stocks rebounded Thursday as investors generally seemed encouraged that the financial sector may strengthening. Commerce Bancshares gained $1.51, and Capitol Federal added 62 cents. UMB Financial, after falling about 6 percent this week, gained $1.33. Other winners among regional stocks included Cerner, up $1.56, Kansas City Southern, up 42 cents, and Garmin, up 32 cents. On Wall Street, stocks posted big gains Thursday after Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it expects sales to grow this year and increase at a faster pace next year.
