BASSETERRE, St Kitts, October 19, 2009 - The opposition People's Action Movement (PAM) in St Kitts says it will increase security for its candidates following an attack at the home of one of them over the weekend. PAM said in a statement that on Saturday, an armed intruder broke into the home of Bernard Welsh, who will carry PAM's banner for the West Basseterre constituency, and attacked and terrorized his family, including their two young children. It said the children were "severely traumatized" by the attack. PAM 's leader Lindsay Grant said that, "greater efforts will have to be made from now on, for the protection and safety of all candidates and families of the People's Action Movement".
