Post office worker’s husband stole £53k

The husband of a Black Country sub postmistress has admitted stealing £53,526 from the Post Office. Salinder Singh and wife Surinder Kaur had initially both been prosecuted for allegedly stealing the cash. But appearing before Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday, Singh, of Oldbury, pleaded guilty to theft. He will be sentenced in November. His 37-year-old wife denied the offence and the matter was dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence against her. Kaur had run post offices in City Road, Oldbury and at the Merry Hill shopping centre in Dudley but is no longer thought to work at either branch.
