Sean Long had the last laugh on his home-town team after helping St Helens reach a record seventh Super League Grand Final at Wigan's expense in a 14-10 scoreline. The veteran halfback made his mark on his final appearance at Knowsley Road as Saints overcame their arch rival to earn the right to meet defending champion Leeds at Old Trafford next Saturday in a repeat of the 2007 and 2008 finals.
