PODGORICA, Montenegro, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Police in Montenegro banned demonstrations against the government's recognition of Kosovo after a rally turned violent. Several thousand people gathered Monday night in Podgorica, the capital, to protest, Deutsche Welle reported. The Cabinet voted last week to recognize Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia this year, and begin diplomatic relations with neighboring Macedonia making the same decision.
