Portugal beats Faeroes 5-0 in Queiroz's return

Portugal downed Faeroe Islands 5-0 in a friendly on Wednesday to give Carlos Queiroz a winning start to his second spell as coach. Carlos Martins, Simao Sabrosa, Duda, Bruno Alves and Nani scored the goals in Queiroz's first match in charge since November, 1993, when he quit after failing to lead Portugal to the 1994 World Cup finals. Queiroz, who has also coached Real Madrid and had two spells as assistant at Manchester United, has replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Brazilian ended his five-year tenure in June by joining Chelsea. Portugal, lacking injured Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, dominated from the start and goalkeeper Quim saw little action.
