Dear Stumped: Is it poor etiquette to address one party's convention, if you are a former vice presidential candidate from the other party? Dear Anne: Your question is whether it's poor etiquette to be Joe Lieberman. Judging by the level of vitriol on the liberal half of the blogosphere, the answer would seem to be a resounding yes. The Democrats' 2000 vice-presidential nominee, you will recall, was defeated by a Democrat in the 2006 Connecticut primary, punishment for his (hawkish) apostasy on Iraq, only to keep his Senate seat by running that November as an independent. It was a bloody affair all around. And, in the eyes of many liberals, Lieberman hasn't done his reputation any favors by endorsing his friend John McCain and agreeing to be among the featured speakers at the Republican convention.
