SANTA CRUZ, Calif.- A person died in a head-on collision that prompted two extrications on state Highway 9 along the border of Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties on Sunday night, according to the CHP.The collision was reported just before 10:30 p.m. and closed state Highway 9 at state Highway 35 for nearly five hours, said CHP Officer Robert Haven.Haven was uncertain about other injuries but said at least one ambulance at the collision left for the hospital. SOLEDAD, Calif.- Nine people were hurt in a head-on collision between a pickup and van Sunday afternoon on a frontage road next to Highway 101 just north of Soledad.
