THP may investigate crash By MARK BELL • GANNETT TENNESSEE • August 18, 2008 The Rutherford County District Attorney today announced that he has requested a temporary district attorney take over the case involving a deputy who hit and killed an 11-year-old Kentucky girl back in July. DA Bill Whitesell stated in a press release that Bob Whitaker of the Law Offices of Bart Durham in Nashville — acting on behalf of Lakeisha White’s family — had requested that Whitesell “remove (himself) from any further participation in the investigation and review of the case (Friday).” The communication from Whitaker also requested that the Tennessee Highway Patrol take over the continuing investigation.
