The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released a new report on the safety of the chemical bisphenol-A (BPA), which is used to make some types of plastic and to seal some types of food containers. The FDA promised to revisit their previous stance on the safety of BPA following a report by the National Toxicology Program that indicated animal tests showed possible harm to humans from BPA. Although the FDA report states that BPA can be found in the urine of more than 90 percent of Americans, it also says that those BPA levels are thousands of times below amounts that would cause harm in humans.
