After all, the Manhattan native was best known as a teen actor, from "All My Children" and "Summerland," and as a tween-pop star with his sweet and innocent hit "Beautiful Soul." No one expected him to prove himself as a songwriter, co-writing one of the year's biggest hits, or as an R&B-oriented singer with another major hit of his own. Well, no one except McCartney himself. "Yeah, there was a lot of shock value," says McCartney, laughing as he calls from a tour stop in Los Angeles. "I know no one expected such a drastic change like this from me.
