BELGRADE -- The situation when it comes to processing war crimes commtted by members of the Croatian Army is improving, writes Danas. “A string of criminal proceedings have been launched and verdicts delivered, some of which can serve as model examples of tring these kinds of crimes. However, there are also verdicts that are a disgrace to the Croatian justice system,” says Ljubiša Drageljević, a lawyer from Rijeka who has been taking part in criminal proceedings on war crimes committed in Croatia, since 2002. As a positive example of judicial practice, Drageljević cites the verdicts of the District Courts in Rijeka and Zagreb in the trial of General Mirko Norac for crimes in Gospić and the Medak Pocket.
