Canada's Zelinka still in hunt in heptathlon

Canada's Jessica Zelinka remained in contention in the heptathlon on Saturday, setting a season best in the long jump at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Zelinka, 26, earned 887 points with a leap of 6.12 metres - the fourth longest in Group A, won by Aiga Grabuste of Latvia (6.36, 962). The London, Ont., native ranks eighth overall with 4,753 points through five of seven events, just 160 points off the podium. The competition concludes with the javelin throw and the 800m run at Beijing's National Stadium, known as the Bird's Nest. Nataliia Dobrynska of Ukraine tops the standings with 5,045 points, followed by Hyleas Fountain of the United States with 5,029.
