Defence minister in N.B. for announcement on upcoming deployment

By: THE CANADIAN PRESS CFB GAGETOWN, N.B. - Defence Minister Peter MacKay is in New Brunswick Friday to make an announcement about an upcoming deployment. So far, no word on what the deployment is about. A news conference is scheduled for Canadian Forces Base Gagetown. Meanwhile, MacKay said Thursday in Fredericton that Canada has pulled out of a planned military exercise with Russia. Word of the cancellation follows Prime Minister Stephen Harper's condemnation of the Russian invasion of Georgia. MacKay says it would be "inappropriate" to go ahead with exercise following Russia's actions. Known for such powerful hits as "Two Minutes to Midnight" and "The Trooper," Iron Maiden was and is one of the most influential bands of the heavy metal genre.
