SHUTTLER Lee Chong Wei gave another convincing performance to move into the semi-finals of the men's singles competition at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium yesterday. The 26-year-old Penangite defeated 2004 Athens Olympics bronze medallist Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia 21-9, 21-11 in 34 minutes to get into the playoffs for medals. Chong Wei will play against South Korean dangerman Lee Hyun-il this evening (6.30pm) for a place in the final on Sunday. The loser goes into the playoff for the bronze medal tomorrow. The second seeded Chong Wei came on court yesterday expecting stiff resistance from his crafty rival, who beat him in the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur last year and went on to finish as the runner-up.
