VIDEO: Omar Khadr back in court Michelle Shephard National Security Reporter GUANTANAMO BAY - Omar Khadr should undergo a psychiatric evaluation before his trial, lawyers of the 21-year-old detainee argued Wednesday before an Army judge. Navy Lt.-Cmdr. Bill Kuebler requested that an independent psychiatrist and psychologist, who have expertise in issues relating to juveniles, torture and combat injuries, be granted access to Khadr. But prosecutors countered that Khadr’s evaluation by these specialists - which would cost U.S. taxpayers $60,000 - is unnecessary since there are American military doctors capable of assessing his mental state.
