Concerns over club prompt meeting

Neighbours shocked by the incident that left a builder fighting for his life outside an Oxford nightclub were meeting police tonight. East Oxford area Inspector Brian Cooper called the meeting after Richard Waters was injured outside the Regal nightclub, at the junction of Cowley Road and Magdalen Road, early on Sunday, August 3. Builder Mr Waters, 52, of Ridgeway Road, Risinghurst, is still in hospital in a critical condition. Mr Cooper called the community focus group meeting at St Mary and John Church, in Cowley Road, to allow residents, councillors and the club's managers to talk about the implications of the incident. Taseer Ahmad, owner of Wasim Regency Stores, next door to the club, said he had seen several fights in Magdalen Road and called for more police in the area at the club's closing times at the weekend....
