SOLEDAD, Calif.- An escaped inmate from Salinas Valley State Prison is back in custody today after he was discovered missing from a minimum support facility around 9:15 pm Tuesday. Emanuel Looney was found and arrested in Gonzales by a Salinas Valley State Prison Escape Field Unit. He is back at the prison, and is being held in a maximum security housing unit. Looney was serving a three year term for vehicle theft and arrived at the prison on August 7th, 2008. His earliest possible release date was scheduled to be August 25, 2009.
