Sheriff's Office declines to release identity of deceased pilot

By Kristin S. Larsen • klarsen@rgj.com • August 11, 2008 Washoe County officers declined to disclose the identity of a pilot found dead in plane crash Friday near Incline Village. Washoe County spokeswoman Deputy Brooke Keast said the deceased’s son is overseas and has yet to be notified of his father’s death, so the family asked that the pilot’s name be withheld. “We are waiting until all of the family is notified until we give out his information,” Keast said. The pilot was identified Monday. The white male, about 50 years old, was not a resident of Nevada and took off from Palo Alto, Calif at 8:09 p.m. Thursday. The cause of the crash is still is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
