New fertility technique uses fewer embryos

LONDON, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A new fertility technique called vitrification has resulted in the birth of a healthy baby girl in Britain. Vitrification is an improved method of embryo storage in which embryos are flash-frozen in liquid nitrogen along with an antifreeze, The Times of London reported Tuesday. Traditional methods of freezing embryos have a 50 percent to 80 percent success rate, compared to a 98 percent success rate for embryos frozen with the new method.
