Julia Green parents drink coffee to celebrate efforts

Staff Writers • August 11, 2008 At Julia Green Elementary in Green Hills, parents are packed into a morning coffee in the cafeteria. Some are using the lobby as an overflow area. It's a PTO event. The mood is celebratory and should be after the community raised $4.2 million for a total remodel. Metro contributed $1.8 million for a total of $6 million. The place still smells strongly of fresh paint. Marsha Priester, PTO member, said the coffee would last until 8:30 a.m., but parents are still hanging out. "It's a chance for parents to tell stories of the first day, ask questions, meet other parents and get to know each other," she said.
