Elmira mayor gets mailing from Golisano organization

By Ray Finger • Gannett News Service • August 11, 2008 ELMIRA — A letter and questionnaire from Responsible New York, Rochester billionaire Tom Golisano's political action committee, was received last week by Elmira Mayor John Tonello. “This isn't something I've requested, but they're sending it out to everybody,” said Tonello, a Democrat who is challenging incumbent Republican George H. Winner Jr. of Elmira for the 53rd District state Senate seat. “Once I do submit it, I'll probably make most of that information public.” Winner said Friday that he has not received the questionnaire yet. “I assume that I'll get one,” he said. “I'm sure that Responsible New York will be supportive of my pro-taxpayer reform agenda and record.
