State enterprise Energocom rejects the information in the Chisinau media according to which the price of a kWh of electricity supplied to the internal market is of 0.03 lei. According to the press release issued by Energocom, the price margin for electricity (the difference between the price of 1 kWh of electricity purchased from Ukraine and the price of 1 kWh supplied to the electricity distribution networks) is of 0.29 bani/kWh (0.0003 USD) or 0.6% of the price for the imported electricity against 0.03 lei/kWh and 7% respectively, as stated in the media. According to Energocom, this margin covers not only the general and administrative costs of the company, but also the losses caused by the fluctuation of the USD exchange rate against the MDL.
