Kids hurt when tents collapse on Mall during storm

WASHINGTON - Several children were injured after a tent partially collapsed on the National Mall during a thunderstorm Monday afternoon. The children took shelter under the tents on the National Mall when the storm came through. The tents partially collapsed, and fell on some of their heads, D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter tells WTOP. Eight children have minor cuts, and two were taken to area hospitals, Etter says. The injuries are non life-threatening.
