Namibia: Ministry Rescues Tsumeb Bicycle Project

Posted to the web 6 October 2008 Staff Reporter Windhoek The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare has struck a deal with the TOV Multipurpose Centre in Tsumeb, that will see the ministry pay the import duty of 400 bicycles that were donated to the centre. TOV centre last week appealed for assistance to pay close to N$19 000 for the transportation of bicycles donated by Bicycle for Humanity, based in Canada. The bicycle project was established in 2001 to provide effective prevention programmes through life skills and teaching on the dangers of HIV and AIDS, and to improve daily living of HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children by providing meals to the children.
