Frank is the founder and CEO of Newstin, which provides a one-stop site for news from all over, for all over the world. Newstin technology—semantic and cross-language information retrieval engine with metadata tagging and data visualization capabilities—can be used for a wide range of information- and data-mining applications. Newstin is not just news, and its innate ability to tag documents based on semantics and context—regardless of language—gives it a chance of becoming the underlying tool or platform for making sense of the Internet.
Originally Newstin (as I2S) focused on IT security and conducted extensive research in information science and mathematics (decision making and priority theory; decision support systems; queuing theory; knowledge discovery in databases; computational linguistics; cross-language information retrieval). By 2000 Newstin was serving as a subcontractor of Cubic Defense Applications on major Government IT restructuring projects supported by the US government in CEE. Fields of expertise: strategic issues, force modernization, C4I* architecture. And in 2004 Newstin began specializing in knowledge management and text-mining. By 2005, Newstin began to focus exclusively on semantic organization and cross-language news aggregation to exploit this unexplored opportunity.
Prior to Newstin, Frank founded companies focused on real estate development, management consulting, security, and medical devices. References include both Governments and corporations. He has operated all over the world, and dealt with political and business leaders in over 25 countries.
In early 90's Frank was the CEO of 400 person regional government organization consisting of 40 subsidiaries, employing more than 40,000 people. He holds a Master’s degree in Geography and a Doctor of Education degree from Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
Frank is a serial entrepreneur with personal integrity, a broad background, passion for new horizons and vision of making the world better. He is proud of Newstin’s team he has built and led.
His persistence and dedication was formed a long time ago, in the years when he was a world-class mountaineer / extreme skier. Frank is still an avid sportsman.
