The Scented Life: All about fragrance

Perfume of the Day: Immortelle by L’Atelier Boheme

Today’s fragrance immediately reminds me of several very perfume-y, department store scents like Tresor and L’Air du Temps. The amber is nice but it turns very soapy on my skin. It’s a very nice scent but quite mature and not like Rated R mature, more like AARP mature. I can say I do quite like the bottle, its wax seal and the flaxen bag packaging. I also think it might be a candidate for layering with something more interesting, like a herbal or woody perfume. I sadly don’t get the pomegranate at all.

To find out more about this scent I went to the L’Atelier Boheme homepage. Please forgive the poor translation:

L’Atelier Bohème returns thanks to the Peacock symbol of immortality and attribute of the Roman goddess Juno (Juno is the equivalent Roman of the Greek goddess Héra). To evoke the symbol and the bird, the perfume spray which is proposed to you is in the following way made up:

Head notes : Brazil Mandarin, Italian Bergamot
Middle notes : light flowery, Pomgranate
Base notes : Amber, Immortelle

The tangerine and the bergamot evoke the promptness of the colors of the Peacock ornament. The floral note is light like a wing… The Apple grenade is the attribute devoted to the Juno goddess and thus symbolizes fruitfulness. The AMBER note is one of oldest of the modern perfumery of the beginning of last century. Its powdered and soft side represents the animal texture of the plumage. Finally the Immortelle of Corsica, small flower which never dies, gives its scent, its symbol and its rare essence.

I got mine at Luckyscent.

Sakecat seemed to dislike it a lot!

An accurate assessment. You should read March’s comments - she disliked it even more than I did!

The soap amplified dramatically on me. I hate soap notes in fragrances. It is probably a skin thing because I can see how this would be pretty on someone else. BTW - enjoy your blog.

I agree - it wasn’t really “pretty” on me but I could see how it might be on someone with different skin chemistry. Definitely not FBW or even worth finishing the sample.
