Rose ready for Wentworth challenge

JUSTIN Rose will look to kick-start his troubled season back in the UK this week, in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The 27-year-old Hampshire golfer, who now bases himself largely in Florida, will tee off at 12.45pm in Thursday's first round, alongside Angel Cabrera and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Last year's European Tour Order of Merit winner has endured a torrid time in 2008.

Since leading in the first round of the Masters last month, his form has dipped alarmingly.

Suffering with a back problem, Rose has pulled out of one event since then and missed his last two cuts.

However, he is hoping some home comforts will help him find his way back to some form.

"I have been in America for five months now," he said.

"Coming back to England is a real opportunity to recharge my batteries sometimes, to catch up with friends.

"I went to the FA Cup final and had a couple of nights out with the guys.

"Just doing English things - watching a bit of football, a pint down the pub, bacon sandwich, going for a curry. Just getting back into the English lifestyle, it's good."

Last year's PGA Championship was one of many highlights of Rose's year, although it ultimately ended in disappointment.

Rose, who has been knocked out of the world top ten rankings, as a result of Spaniard Sergio Garcia's win at The Players' Championship, was on top form.

However, he missed out on claiming the top prize, after Denmark's Anders Hansen defeated him in a playoff.

"Last year Wentworth was a key week for me in terms of a platform for a good year, so I am hoping it will, again, be a good tournament for me to get some form going," he said.

"Wentworth is one of my favourite courses. I've been going to the tournament there since I was a kid.

"The BMW is the flagship event on the European Tour, there is no bigger event really.

"It is ranked really high on my priority list and it is a golf course I really like playing too.

"It is well worth making the trip back from America to come and play.

"Results-wise the last few weeks have been disappointing, but before that things were very much on track.

"I'm trying not to spend too much (time deliberating) on the last couple of weeks and just work my way back into a positive frame of mind."
