EMMERDALE bad boy Cain Dingle showed his caring side when he met members of Bolton Council's care ambassador scheme.
Actor Jeff Hordley presented 30 staff from the council's health and social care department with certificates for speaking to children about their jobs and encouraging them to study health and social care diplomas at school.
The 38-year-old actor from Oldham also spoke to starstruck pupils who are considering careers in caring.
Smithills School pupil Jennifer Pitt, aged 15, said: "I was shaking with nerves when I first met him but I'm not anymore.
"I've really enjoyed learning about the care ambassadors."
Mr Hordley said he was backing the care scheme because he knew how worthwhile it was.
"My wife and best friend both work in social care so I know how important it is," he said.
"I think the scheme will raise awareness to get young people involved for the future.
"People don't realise there are lots of jobs you can do to help people keep their independence and dignity."
Jo O'Meara, aged 42, of Horwich, who works for the council to ensure that people get the right type of care, was one of the ambassadors to receive a certificate.
She said: "I wasn't expecting to get this. I was extremely nervous when I found out."
