ICT centre for Downs Syndrome Association

A new ICT centre for the Downs Syndrome Association was inaugurated by Communications Minister Austin Gatt on Saturday. The centre which is found at the association’s headquarters aims to help members train on computers in order to find work.  

In his inauguration address, Minister Gatt mentioned the good work being carried out by the Foundation for IT Accessibility (FITA) and the KNPD who will implement a number of iniatives. The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) will also have an important role within the ICT field, the Minister said.

The Minister also thanked the Downs Syndrome Association and companies who contributed to the setting up of the centre. These are Microsoft, HP, Computer Solutions, Forestals, Systec u GO.

On Saturday, World Telecommunications and Information Society Day is being celebrated. This year’s theme is Connecting Persons with Disabilities: ICT Opportunities for All.
