Unless the PMI companies go along with it in areas that they define as declining markets, such posturing only appears good in the media, but in realty, does not benefit the markets what so ever. In decline markets, the PMI's want at least 8% down on single family detached(5% more than the minimum)and 15% down on condo's (5% more than their 10% minimum). As far as I am concerned, they are closing the barn door after the proverbial horse has run out and its only effect on the market is to lead it further downhill!
