Thanks again Tom for a very helpful bibliography. Thanks to you I enjoyed Ron Chernow's Alexander Hamilton & found it as profound as David McCoullough's John Adams...which I was surprised was not on your list.
The most profound book I have read regarding predictions in the 21st century is Ray Kurzweil's The Age of Spiritual Machines, 1999. Reading this then set an exciting tone of what to expect which now eight years later is happening. I also have enjoyed Kurzweil's Fantastic Voyage, 2004 which very positively changed my outlook & habits improving my life.

Fantastic list Tom, have you had a chance to read Doglas Feith's book? I would like to know your thoughts on it.

Another reason to like Tom! Two SF books in the list ... as a true SF Fan (fanatic!) I get 'why don't you grow up' too often ... and me on the wrong side of fifty. It's nice to see someone who understands that the genre is about (at bottom) the interaction of people and technology -- what could be more relevant to human life today? Too bad more members of congress (and others) don't read SF maybe then they'd not sound like idiots when they discuss things like cloning, genetic modification, internet, nuclear power, sceintific research, ... sigh.
