Harare

MEXICAN guitarist Morgan Szymanski makes a welcome return to Harare this month for the latest classical music event hosted by Celebrity Subscription Concerts.

After a successful debut in Zimbabwe two years ago, he is returning to take part in the 2008 Bulawayo Music Festival from May 21 to 25, and will perform for Celebs in Harare on May 18, before travelling to the City of Kings the following day.

Szymanski was born in Mexico City in 1979 and later studied at the Royal College of Music in London and at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam, graduating with first class honours in 2004.

He became the first guitar soloist to be selected by Britain's prestigious Young Concert Artists Trust and has won a number of classical music prizes at competitions and festivals.

He has performed at recitals in Europe and North America and visited Zimbabwe for the first time in 2006, when he was warmly received in both Harare and Bulawayo.

He has also recorded several albums, available internationally on CD.

At this year's Harare concert he will perform works by Agustin Barrios Mangore, Mauro Giuliani, Simone Iannarelli, Alec Roth, Leo Brouwer, Antonio Lauro, Manuel M Ponce, Francisco Tarrega and Paulo Bellinati.
