My Top Ten For Belgrade ESC 2008 (Part 1)

Saturday, May 17, 2008, 01:28 AM GMT [General]

This year's, Eurovision Song Contest looks, set to be a vintage with high quality acts from, the east to the west of Europe in a variety of styles that will be performed at the Beogradska Arena, Belgrade, Serbia. Here I have presented you the form of the top ten simulated finalists that I project will perform at the Final on Saturday 24th May 2008. The form as follows:

1:Malta
Staring with Malta, the entry of "Vodka" performed by Morena is a Very strong contender for this year's contest with the video performance containing espionage scenes, beats and energy . This could be Malta's year.

2:Finland
The Group Terasbetoni's performance of "Miss Miehet Cassata" (Where Men Ride) has a Very robust chance. However being sung in Finnish in place of English with a lack of Masks and the Klingon/Orc style of Lordi will that affect their chances.

3:Ukraine
From the nation of the Gulf of Finland to a nation of the Black Sea, Ukraine's Ani Lorak with a contemporary and catchy performance of "Shady Lady" has an exceedingly high chance of winning and putting the rest of the competition in the shade. Conversely the entry does have a hard act to follow compared to Ruslana's "Wild Dances".

4:United Kingdom
On the strongest of the "Big 4 Countries" the United Kingdom has it's best entry for several years in the form of Andy Abraham's performance of "Evan If", that will have a substantial chance of winning the contest with a catchy and up-beat tunes. For a "Big 4 Country" to be in the top ten it has to be exceedingly excellent and this is exceedingly excellent, will this bring the Eurovision Song Contest Back to the UK.

5:Greece
Fifth the Greek of "My Secret Combination" as sung by Kalomoira has a good chance of winning, due to its catchy lyrics and pop tunes of a Greek flavour which will attract the younger fan base at this year's contest. Nevertheless like Finland and Ukraine it's expectations have gone up due to recent wins, in the case of Greece Helena Paparazzo's "My Number One"

6:Montenegro
The strongest entry from the former Yugoslavian republics has to be Montenegro's Stefan Filipovic with his rendition of "Zauvijek Volim Te" (Never Forget That I Love You ) is a catchy tune that you can tap your toes to. This will lure the young female fans of the contest.

7:Andorra
From the east of Europe to the west, we come to Andorra sandwiched between the big 4 of France and Spain, it's entrant of Gisela with her song of Casanova probably paying a homage to Giacomo Casanova. The song is a classic europop act that has a good chance of winning with a style of Steps.

8:Sweden
Over to our second Scandinavian country, Sweden their entrant for this year in the form of Charlotte Nilsson Pirelli's "Hero" has a great chance of winning the contest with a power pop ballad of a performance. Charlotte Perrelli is a veteran Eurovision winner, a lady not to be written off.

9:Azerbaijan
The Debut nation of Azerbaijan I think will make a strong start to this year's contest, Elnur and Samir's anthem of "Day after Day" with it's Nightwish-esque flair has a robust chance of wining the contest. Is one of the songs that will be highly received.

10:Bulgaria
Finally Bulgaria, with its dance act of "DJ, Take me Away" as performed by Deep Zone and Balthazar with its catchy dance-club rhythm break-beats in a contemporary fashion has an excellent chance of victory this year. It is a song that is really something to go to the club for.

I hope you enjoy the EV song contest and that your predictions meet with success. I see that you have put some effort into your comment. I trust that you understand that the contest is, to put it kindly, a minority interest and that it is unlikely to elicit much enthusiasm here. All the best, Boab.
