FAKENHAM Racecourse hosts its last national hunt race meeting of the current season on Sunday.
The racecourse has linked up with The Royal British Legion, who will be using the race meeting to promote the invaluable work they do in the region.

Chief executive and clerk of the course David Hunter said: "We have had an excellent season of national hunt racing this year, with the sad exception of losing Easter Monday due to snow, so I am hopeful that those race goers who missed the opportunity to race with us at Easter will be coming here instead on Sunday.

"The jockey that will grab the attention of everyone will be Chris Honour in the Rex Carter Memorial Chase at 3.20 pm, when he partners his regular mount Cool Roxy.

"Between them, they will see if they can make Fakenham history by winning for the tenth time at the course."

In addition to the six national hunt races on the card there will be, for the third year running, the finals of the East Anglian Point to Point Pony Racing Series.

As well as the racing there will be a parade of Standards by members of the Royal British Legion and the band of the Royal Logistic Corps will be playing on the course in front of the stands at 1.30pm and then again between races.

There will also be a dedicated children's entertainment area and a running race for children aged ten and under over the final half furlong will happen at about 5pm.

This race is being sponsored by Dereham equestrian stalwart and rooky children's author, David Hartley, who is giving copies of his newly published story book – 'The Adventures of Madge the Magic Carpet' – to the first three children home in the race.

The first National Hunt race is at 2.20pm, the last is at 4.50pm. The pony races go off at 5.15pm and 5.30pm. Gates open at 11am.

Adult prices are: course enclosure £7, grandstand and paddock £12 and members £17.

Children 16 years and under are free as long as they are accompanied by adults.
