Visit Salzburg And Let Your Feet Do The Walking

The best way to enjoy your holiday to Salzburg is to walk instead of using transportation. The buses do run every day, but they are hard to figure out. You might catch the last bus of the day and end up somewhere other than where you need to be. It is so easy to walk that everyone does it. You also get to see more when you walk around the area. If you need some transportation at night, there are taxis that can drive you around the area. However, walking at night allows you to see the nightlife and the lights.

There are amazing places to see such as the Schloss Hellbrunn. You will see some of the most intriguing fountains. They actually call them trick fountains. It is so much fun to watch these fountains. The grounds and palace were once home to the archbishops. The gardens, wading pool, swimming pool and green grass is a perfect way to spend the day seeing and enjoying. This place is intriguing and amuses even the oldest person who visits. You will not be without something to do or something to ponder when you spend the day here. It is in walking distance of almost anywhere.

The next place to walk around is Getreidegasse. A street has many shops and little cafés to rest. This is the area that the locals call the old part of town. The reason is it still has some of the old signage that was popular in the early days. The Hohensalzburg Fortress is a beautiful place to visit. You can see the Alps and the city of Salzburg below. The mountaintop fortress now houses a medieval weapons museum. You could even attend one of the nightly concerts that are preformed at the fortress, but you do need reservations.

The Toy Museum is another great place to see. The toys are from centuries ago to present. It is amazing to see how toys have evolved over the years. The Natural History Museum is another place where you can see the history of Salzburg. If you have an hour or so, you could visit the St Sebastian Cemetery where the wife of Mozart is buried as well as Archbishop Wolfdietrich Mausoleum. The area is impressive to see because they do keep it well groomed and it is something to see. There are also the Catacombs of St Peters Church to see.

The salt mines are another place to tour. They have daily tours that are impressive. You can put on the coveralls and take a trolley ride through the salt mines. It is a great experience. Then there is the casino for some relaxation. The casino is always hopping and some good times. If you win enough, you could pay for your holiday to Salzburg and still have money left over. The city is a great place to visit and have fun. Before you leave, do not forget to visit the chessboard that is painted on the ground by the cathedral.
