San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2008 -- Henley-Putnam University (www.henley-putnam.edu), a premier university for online higher education in the field of Strategic Security, is pleased to announce the promotion of Branch Walton to the new position of Associate Dean of Student Services, effective immediately. Walton's responsibilities include the development and expansion of current career services functions, providing career guidance to students and prospective students, and assisting students in determining the best electives they can take to insure maximum exposure for the students' emphasis. In addition, Walton will coordinate the mentoring program to ensure that the appropriate mentors are teamed up with the right students to better guide them and assist them in developing the skills necessary for their chosen careers.

"I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing Branch since he was one of my instructors when I attended Secret Service training," said Dr. Corcoran. "He was always one of the most patient and genuinely concerned instructors who would go the extra mile for the student to not only ensure they understood what was being taught, but that it really fit in well with how they would do their job. Now that he's Associate Dean of Student Services, Henley-Putnam can further focus on helping students to advance in their careers or making career changes that will be satisfying."

Branch Walton recently served as Airport Manager of Training at Ft. Lauderdale International Airport. With more than 40 years of experience in law enforcement and training in security and other related topics, Walton served as past President of the National Association for Bank Security and retired from the United States Secret Service after a 21-year career. His assignments included Special Agent-in-Charge of a field office, the Office of Training, investigative and protective assignments at three field offices and security details for Presidents Nixon, Carter and Reagan. Post-retirement activity has included Director of Corporate Security for Cummins Engine Co., where he was responsible for worldwide security operations. Other employment includes Chief of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Management Institute, criminal justice instructor at Indiana University at Bloomington, IN., a commissioned officer in the U. S. Marine Corps, and special agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (now NCIS). Walton is a well-known speaker and author on workplace violence, executive protection, identity theft and other security topics. He continues to instruct at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in the field of physical security.
