EUREKA, TX. - Mona Irene Hammond Gray
Comments 0 | Recommend 087, of Eureka, TX formally of Harlingen, TX, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008. The Lord took her home and she has perfect healing.
Born March 1, 1921 in Williamson, NY. She graduated from Marion Central High School, Marion, NY in 1939. and graduated from Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute in Rochester, NY in 1942. She moved to Texas to work for Singer. She met and married Claude Gray in 1943 and traveled as an Air Force wife from Maine to Guam. She raised 5 children as a stay-at-home mom.
She was a Christian and member of Rio Hondo Community Church in Rio Hondo, TX. She moved to Eureka, TX in 2006 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Jim Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Bertha Hammond and daughter, Virginia Lee Gray Heathington.
She is survived by her children, Claudia Irene Gray Allen (Jim), Eureka, TX; Richard Francis Gray (Lois), Westminster, CO; Patricia Ann Gray Bomba (Bruce), Karnes City, TX; William Hammond Gray (Evelyn), Pharr, TX. Sisters; Eunice Van Alstyne, Webster, NY, Mary Zogaros, Ashboro, NC; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service in Weslaco at a later date.
We want to thank Cedar Creek Hospice and Vital Signs Home Health for their wonderful care of our mom, especially Pam Cates, Sara Keele and Mitzy Gray.
