ITHACA, N.Y. - Biotechnology company Vybion Inc. said Wednesday it will sell its recombinant protein business to Meridian Biosciences Inc., which makes and markets diagnostic test kits primarily for respiratory, gastrointestinal, viral, and parasitic infectious diseases.

Financial details were not disclosed. Both companies expect the deal to close in the next 60 days.
Privately held Vybion, which is based in Ithaca, N.Y., is also eligible to receive royalty payments from Meridian on sales of related products.
Vybion Chief Executive Officer Lee Henderson said divesting the business will allow it to focus efforts on its preclinical drug candidate for cocaine abuse, CoMab.
