Hasbro reacquires rights to TV programs

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Toymaker Hasbro Inc. on Wednesday said it regained ownership of nearly 1,000 episodes of programs featuring its brands, including G.I. Joe, Transformers and My Little Pony.

Financial terms were undisclosed. The shows are part of the Sunbow Library of Hasbro Classics programming. Hasbro bought back worldwide distribution rights for the library from brand-management company TV-Loonland.

The acquisition increases Hasbro's content library to nearly 2,000 episodes of programs covering 30 brands.

Hasbro has been focusing on expanding its traditional toy brands into entertainment, publishing, promotions and digital arenas. One example is its big-screen hit "Transformers."
