A MAN convicted of terrorism offences, including a threat to become a suicide bomber in the heart of Glasgow, was refused his freedom yesterday pending an appeal.
Mohammed Atif Siddique, 21, of Alva, Clackmannanshire, was jailed for eight years after a jury found him guilty of a number of charges.

He has been granted leave to appeal against the verdicts and against the length of the sentence imposed by the trial judge, Lord Carloway, and he applied for interim liberation until the case could be heard by the Court of Criminal Appeal.

The application was considered by Lord Matthews in a private hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, and he refused to grant it.
